Labyrinth

High Park Labyrinth

We can gain a sense of rhythm through the absence of sound as easily as being embraced by it. Rhythm of life is what connects sound and the labyrinth. We walk in rhythm and the labyrinth helps us connect to that deeper rhythm within us, our inner voices, our harmonic resonance which brings us right back into balance with all the life that surrounds us. The labyrinth sings. And if we listen deeply we can hear it. And if we listen deeply we can hear our part in the Universe, the one song.

The labyrinth is a rhythmic design of twists and turns, walking, breathing, and feeling, you slip into your song. You can learn a lot about where you are at, from moving into the labyrinth. We often find our walk into the center is a much more hurried pace as we are still connected to the world of ‘get things done’ and as we reach the centre, we find OUR centre, our home note. The place where our silent echo breathes. We shift, we balance and find harmony.

Cretan Carved Labyrinth

The Labyrinth is an archetype, a mystical symbol, an imprint for the divine within. The mind sees only the straight line, the heart only the circle, and body only the present. Combine all three, and you see the creative spiral, and know your place within that spiral. It is this same spiral path which leads to the spiritual dimension. You connect with spirit through silence and sound.

Anny Fyreagle is the current guardian of the High Park Labyrinth. She has been walking and facilitating labyrinth walks for many years.
