Dear Sonic Souls,
I feel like I have been neglecting you. I have been in hibernation since the winter solstice but it has been an active hibernation. I’ve been writing. I have been putting together some projects, some of which I can’t share at the moment, others I can. The interesting thing about hibernation, is that it causes me to be introspective. I gave some thought as to the hows and whys of my path. How did I get here? Why did I end up being a sound practitioner. It not really that much of a surprise really, if I look at all of my training and my deep love of music. I have suffered with migraines my entire life but I did not know what a migraine was until I was fifteen. If you can imagine, medication wasn’t even on the list of options. Prior to that, a migraine episode was a total nightmare to me and the only way through the chaos was through music. It became my medicine. Following the path of music as medicine is so natural to me that when I am without it, people ask me if I am ‘okay’. My pain specialist always hands me my ipod after my treatment. It’s a wonder music does not come out of my pores!
The Winter Solstice/Lunar Eclipse was extraordinary. We met at the Reconciliation Stone at Humber Bay park as the sun and the moon reconciled. We bonded over building a fire in the cold, still night. The stunning moon showered us with her beauty and we shared stories, wishes and ritual. And here we are at Spring Equinox, seeking balance and planting the seeds for new ideas, already.
My home office/studio is ready, set and looking amazing. I am loving this. It has been a labour of love clearing out and letting go of my attachment to paper. As a communicator, that is a challenging habit. I don’t think I’ll ever get over the book and music collection.
I am delighted to be teaching Integrative Sound Practice. Currently, I am teaching it in my home studio. I can accommodate one to two people at a time. I will be writing a series of articles about it over the next few months. Look forward to that. If you are interested in how to incorporate Integrative Sound Practice in your life please contact me.
It will also be it’s making it’s way into other formats, including a book and I will also be taking it into the hospice environment.
I have my first prototype of the Sound Runes done. The symbols have been picked and I am now working on the companion book to go with it. I was going to put a deadline in here for myself, but we all know how that works.
I am always deeply honoured when people compliment me on my listening practice. It is at the heart of the Integrative Sound Practice and it’s a delight to see and hear that my practice is making and impact on the world. How we listen, to the world, to each other, even to music, is important. How do you know if what you are listening is good for you, or not? Too often, we are tuned out instead of tuned in. The best place to learn this is in a retreat space. I have the opportunity to create a retreat in the country for a small group of people. The plans are coming together soon. If this resonates with you, let me know.
Writing has been forefront and remains so. Song lyrics are coming along fine. I will be adding a fiction blog soon. It would be great to hear from you. Let me know how your sonic travels are making waves. You can find me on my website. www.anandasound.com. I also have a facebook page for Ananda Sound.
As always, yours in sound,
Sonic blissings, Anny
